Hello All,

Lately we were experiencing poor performance from our SQL Server especially when we ran the Sales Inquiry. To boost the performance, recently we have increased our Great Plains SQL Server 2000 Database server RAM from 2 GB to 10 GB. The operating System is Microsoft Window 2003 Std.
We are still facing same performance. I just read some article about enabling AWE in SQL Server to get the visibility of more than 4 GB memory. The database size almost 2GB.

Could any one help me to fine tune the SQL Server.

Thanks in advance.
Samuel

Windows 2003 Standard will only address 4GB of memory, regardless of how much physical memory you have installed.  You will need to consider changing to Windows Enterprise Server to address 10GB of memory.

With a small database like this - you should be operating comfortably with even 2GB of memory  (I have 4GB memory and an 16GB database).  You need to start looking for other potential causes.

Check
1.  Database indexing (do SQL housekeeping stuff)
2.  File Fragmentation on your servers disk (use Diskeeper).
3.  Network traffic
4.  Other server tasks.

Have fun!
John
